WHAT: Stage2 facilitated an interactive experience for two geographically separated participants who interacted using Bodyshelves located two separate rooms The work was experienced for up to 20 minutes per person. The two ‘Bodyshelf’ interfaces were fabricated in wood and were embedded with an array of sensors which detected shifting balances of bodyweight and different types of backpressure. This allowed the participants to conduct ‘Intimate Transactions’ that established indirect dialogue with each other and the computational creatures that inhabited their parallel virtual spaces. Stage 2 contained most of the features that eventually characterised the final work.
